Basics: Using Shoe Modifications in Your Pedorthic Practice
Presented by Erick Janisse, CO, C. Ped.
This program will be a refresher course on shoe modifications as pedorthic
modalities. Many modern pedorthists do
not use shoe modifications due to their lack of understanding of them. Some choose not to use shoe modifications
because they do not have an on-site lab capable of producing them and have not
found a reputable outside source. Still
others do not use shoe modifications in their practices because their referring
physicians are not aware that they are available treatment options. Regardless of why they are not being used,
shoe modifications can be and are very valuable tools for treating painful foot
and ankle conditions. After
participating in this program, students should have a better understanding of
what modifications can be done to shoes and why and when to use them.
