Understanding the Neuromuscular Foot: A Pedorthic Approach
Presented by Erick Janisse, CO, C. Ped.
Given the prevalence of diabetes in the United States and more specifically in pedorthic practices, it is understandable to focus solely on diabetes mellitus as the cause of limb-threatening peripheral neuropathy. This presentation will explore the dozens of other common etiologies of sensor neuropathies. These other common conditions are sometimes overlooked, ignored, underestimated or treated with less zeal by pedorthists, physicians and third-party payers despite the fact that people with these problems are at just as much, sometimes even more, risk for developing neuropathies, wound-healing problems and neuropathic fractures as patients with diabetes.
